CARRANGLAN, NUEVA ECIJA - SLOPE PROTECTION DPWH REGION II

The municipality of Carranglan is a 1st class municipality in the province of Nueva Ecija, Philippines. It is the province’s largest municipality in terms of land area.

During the rainy season, Dalton Pass, Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, is usually closed due to debris fall caused by flash floods. Thousands of commuters going to and from Cagayan Valley would be stranded for more than six (6) hours due to intermittent As this happened quite frequently, DPWH was burdened with the constant and consistent need to deploy bulldozers and trucks to clear out the road. This solution was too costly and too temporary. This lead them to search for a more permanent solution. One that would treat the very source of the landslides. Contrary to popular belief, that the cause was merely by the roadside, it was found that the cause of the these debris fall was located at the top of the mountain.

Himampangon
Himampangon, Negros Oriental

Himampangon is a coastal road and an important highway in Negros Island because it connects the island from its northern point to the south. The round is surrounded by steep cliffs on the west and the sea a few hundred meters below on the east. Due to the unstable rock formation and steep slope characteristics of these cliffs, it had started to fracture in certain areas causing damages to the concrete pavement and danger to road users.

After investigation, Rebtrade recommended the use of active slope protection with use of high tensile wire mesh (Spider® System of Geobrugg). This particular technology focuses on heavy duty applications which was ideal for the situation in Himampangon.

Ilomavis
Kidapawan, North Cotabato

Kidapawan, North Cotabato is a mountainous road network and is a tourism road that leads to Mt. Apo. Lately, it has increased in traffic as the main road is usually full. It has been subjected to strong winds, and more recently, to frequent earthquakes, oftentimes leading these mountainous areas to experience a combination of rockfall and landslide. Due to these incidents, the road is usually forced to close

After investigating, it was found that the mountains were highly unstable due to its soil characteristics and slope inclination. Rebtrade recommended an active slope protection using high tensile wire mesh and anchor nails to solve this continuous problem. This road also happens to be the more scenic route. So for its finishing, we added hydroseeding in order to maintain its scenic beauty.
